A Giveaway While I'm Away

Sunday, August 8, 2010

*NOTE: This giveaway has been closed. The winners are being notified through emails. Thank you all who entered!

Tomorrow is the big day. Tomorrow we're going to wake up early, we're going to open up our front door and welcome two of Christopher's bosses daughters inside our home (I baked them both brownies and strawberry shortcake- I can't let them go hungry while they're here!), we're going to load my pile of pillows and hospital bag (which I have yet to pack) into the van, and then we're going to drive 15 minutes down the freeway, without our kids, probably in a whirlwind of anxious silence, check into the hospital, and we're going to have a baby.

So while we're away, I thought maybe you'd all like something to do (?), as you're coming and going, maybe checking for updates and hoping for a teeny glimpse of little Miss Evelyn.

How about a giveaway?
**********************************

Yesterday, just after dinner, during the hottest part of the day (of course)- we took the babies outside. Brave, right? Usually when its that hot we just stay inside and listen to them complain, knowing that as soon as we step foot out the door, their faces will turn bright red, everyone will get cranky, and meltdowns will surely occur.

Well, maybe not this time?

We recently got some baby neck coolers from one of our wonderful sponsors, Pretty Lizzy Lu.

I followed the instructions that came with the coolers, I soaked them for 15 minutes before going outside, and then as soon as our sandals hit the hot cement, I wrapped the cold pieces of fabric around their necks, secured them in place with the sewn-on velcro, and let the babies run free.

Not only did the babies not complain (which I thought for sure they would), but they loved them.

Even Charlie, who can't stand having things around his neck (ya know, scarves, bead strands, whatever his sister is trying to choke him with) or on his head, left it completely alone while he went off and played.

Actually, I was jealous. While the kids were completely comfortable in the hellish afternoon Texas heat, this pregnant Mama was dripping sweat- face turning red- and ready to pass out! Why didn't I get myself any of these things?!

Twenty or thirty minutes later, I figured the neck coolers had lost their cool (that and even one more minute outside and I knew I'd collapse), so we picked up our toys (hah, we... right) and headed back inside. And when we got back in the house, would you believe that neither of the kids had red faces or attitudes?!

Ok, well maybe one of them had a little bit of an attitude...

But isn't that the cutest attitude you've ever seen?

Ok, right, but so anyways, y'all... I've got some neck coolers to give away!!

Pretty Lizzy Lu had sent along 3 baby neck coolers for us to share with our online friends and readers! And because soon, this here blog is going to be swallowed whole by all things newborn, and because the temperatures aren't getting any cooler out there, I figured now would be the best time to set up the giveaway and hand them out.

What you need to do:

-Leave a comment on this post.

-Leave your email in that comment. (Make it easy for me to track you down if you win?)

-The end!

It doesn't get much easier than that, does it?

I'll pick the three separate winners (one neck cooler each- I'll just be choosing who gets which pattern at random) when I return from my delivery. It might be Wednesday, it might be Saturday. I'm not putting a time stamp on the contest.

You can enter only once.

Open to both US and Canadian residents (par-tay, right?).

Um, am I forgetting anything??
No?

Alright then! The next time you'll see me, I'll be holding an itty bitty little baby!!

Holy Moly. What a great idea! As you (probably) know I live just a few hours south of you in this state that I fondly refer to as the heater for hell. That's a great idea for a product.

And good luck tomorrow! I'm very excited for you.

I was also referred to you today by another blogger who said you've got some good g-free recipes on your blog. I just wanted to say thanks for posting those, and I look forward to browsing through them! :]

How strange to see you post on this when a guy I work with (he's a maintenance technician) had an adult version around his neck on Friday. I couldn't for the life of me figure out why he was wearing a weird bow around his neck. Finally I asked him and he told me how it worked. I meant to ask him where he got it, but I was just so curious about this thing that I've never seen before that it slipped my mind. Now they have cuter ones for babies!

Oh, good luck today! I know you two are so excited to be bringing in another cutie Herman baby.

Hey Tia & family.
Just read that little Miss Evelyn was born..you must be proud and so so tired. I'm glad all went well and that both you and Evelyn are doing well.

Here's a shout out to the best Texan family ever! Horray for Evelyn and kisses to all of you from Canada.

Nessa, Kevin, Sophia & Charlotte.

Wow! It's Monday... I'm thinking about you and your newest little one... GOOD LUCK!! Can't wait to read all about it. All the best!

Oh, and neck coolers look great! It's been in the high 90s and 100s here in TN...that is a brilliant idea. It may actually allow us to go and enjoy the outdoors. Now, does she have a wrap to keep the mosquitoes away??

Congrats!

Unknown August 10, 2010 at 9:36 PM

Congratulations on the new baby! I hope all is right in your world as you're enjoying this brand new bundle of joy!

Karen Ekonen August 10, 2010 at 10:42 PM

Congratulations! How exciting to add a new baby to the family!

I just found your blog from an Ichthyosis message board. My 1 year old daugther has Ichthyosis and only sweats on her nose and forehead, so living in the HOT southeast can be quite dangerous for her during the summer! We'd LOVE to win one of the neck coolers so that she can stay comfortable and cool when we have to get out in the heat.
