The retirement of my peach cobbler.

Sunday, September 7, 2008

It is unfortunate news that I have bid farewell to my seemingly never ending supply of peach cobbler. Not because my cravings have stopped, but because I've added yet another set of ingredients to my list of food intolerance's. Gums. Xanthan, vegetable, arabic. Any kind of gum. For most of you, that probably sounds like blah blah blah, but to me, I'm much too familiar with every single ingredient that I set into my mouth and swallow. I can tell when I'm having a reaction within minutes, and then the next 12-24 hours is a combination of bodily hell and determination to find out hell's cause. So until I come up with a new recipe for a quick and easy peach cobbler, my appetite for the dish has subsided.

Hurry up and wait.

For those of you who are new to our blog, or maybe just didn't know, Christopher is in the United States Air Force. They do these things, called exercises, where they pretend like the threat level has increased, and they mock deploy, and do all of those other fun war game things that totally interrupt our every day lives. Well, even though Christopher is an aircraft hydraulics mechanic, when they play these games, hes a security forces augmentee? He dresses up in all of the heavy war gear, straps a gun to his chest, and stands at an unknown gate for 14 hours in the middle of the night. Hes been on telephone standby for the past 2 days. We thought for sure we'd get woken up at 3am to his Black Sabbath ring tone, but have yet to hear anything. I thought I'd post a picture of him all dressed up and ready to play...

Edit: And of course, as soon as we started accomplishing something around the house, he gets called in.
