Weeee Oooooh Weeeee Oooooh

Monday, October 4, 2010

Minutes after putting the kids down for their afternoon quiet time, Christopher and I were startled out of our could-have-been-relaxation by a loud "weeee ooooh, weeeee ooooh, honk honk honk!".

What the-

Omg.

The firetruck parade!!
Its fire safety week here at Dyess.

Christopher ran up the stairs, not knowing where the parade was starting or ending, in hopes that he could grab the kids before the trucks turned down Indiana.

Elie rocked the bed head.

Not quite awake, and not sure of why we were standing outside barefoot- Charlie slumberly shouted "fiyeh twuck!" over and over again, while chomping on his binky and shuttling around his Lovey.

Evelyn slept through it.
Hee hee, I see a boogie.

Why wake up for trucks and candy, anyways? Lame.

Soon the sirens got louder.
It had to be getting close!

"They're coming, they're coming!"

"FIRE TRUCK FIRE TRUCK FIRE TRUCK!"

Charlie couldn't stand still. As soon as the parade rounded the bend, he took off.

Into the side yard he rocketed.

Was there really a parade coming right towards us?
On our street?
Fire trucks?!

...surely Charlie was dreaming.

While Eleanore was jumping up and down, collecting suckers that had been thrown from moving vehicles, Charlie was running back and forth across the driveway.

"Daddy, do you see this?!"

This was too good to be true.

The kids, went crazy.
Sometimes living on an Air Force Base is pretty awesome.

Its not everyday that firetrucks throw frisbees, suckers, and smarties out their windows at you. While you're in your own driveway.

...
So much for quiet time.

White v-neck undershirt and plaid pajama pants... Will and Christopher could totally be twins. Also, I clearly picked the wrong neighborhood... we didn't get a firetruck parade! *jealous*

I love the jammies and the bedhead! It's been a long time since we've lived on a base. Sometimes I miss it... like now.

Aww! A Year later a post just like what brought me to your blog in the first place! We missed the parade AGAIN this year. Price of living on a cul de sac, I suppose.

Omg this is SO cool!! M would love that. We have a fire station down the street, and every time a truck goes by Max runs to the door to look. So so rad.

How fun! We had a parade right by our house the other day too! Plus in a few weeks, the high school's homecoming parade will go right by. <3
