Win these postcards!

Thursday, October 1, 2009

Alright, so I haven't done a giveaway on my blog for awhile now. I didn't like the direction my Monday suck-day giveaways were going in, so I ended them altogether. It felt like they were bringing in too much greedy traffic. You know the kind I'm talking about- people just looking for free stuff, they didn't take the time to read all of the rules, they posted comments consisting only of "enter me", without even so much as a please on the end. I couldn't make politeness a requirement for the giveaways (I had assumed that everyone knew proper blog giveaway etiquette), so rather than feeling like my blog was becoming a common Monday morning stomping ground for the sweepers (not that there is anything wrong with being obsessed with random giveaways, its just not my cup of tea. I prefer peppermint), I just focused on writing.

You probably recognize the pictures on the postcards from the banner up top there *points to the top of the page*. I had ordered some pictures for myself online a few weeks ago, to fill up some collage frames that I had bought on sale at the craft store. And while I was at it, I wondered what some of my shots might look like as postcards? I've taken up photography as sort of a hobby lately (OK its been over a year now, a little longer than lately), snapping pictures left and right, mostly to document the life of my children, but also because taking pictures is one of the few things that I have to myself.

So, dear friends, I want to share some of my picture postcards with you! I'm giving away two sets of these postcards, one of each per set (so one of the butterfly, and one of the puddle stomp- you'll get both). I appreciate everybody that takes even a little bit of time out of their day to skim through the words and pictures on my blog. Your comments keep my fingers typing.

-----------------------------------
In order to enter:

-Leave me a comment on this post, telling me a random association with my blog. Maybe how you found it, your favorite post, why you read daily, etc. Just spark up a friendly comment conversation, hehe.

-If you don't have a blogger user name (because I know not everyone does), make sure to leave your name and email.

Additional Entries:

-Follow my blog. If you already do (thank you!), leave another comment reminding me. If you don't yet, simply click the "follow" button on the left side bar, and then leave a comment letting me know you've done so.

-Follow me on Twitter. I'm not exactly the most interesting person to follow, I tend to update about what I'm eating for breakfast a lot, haha, but I like meeting new people on there. If we're already twitter friends, just leave a comment reminding me (as if I could forget my tweeps), or if you're just now following, leave a comment to let me know. Feel free to RT a message about this giveaway, I wouldn't mind seeing some new faces around here.

That's it, folks! I'll pick two winners at random, maybe pull a name out of a hat (coffee mug, realistically), or use the random number generator, in two weeks, on October 15th.

Thanks everyone, for entering. I can't wait to share these with you.

I fell in love with the puddle stomp photograph when I first saw it on JessicaJaneHandmade's blog sidebar. It is such a wonderful image of childhood. I want to jump in puddles now!

ENTER ME! NOW!

Kidding. Ugh and what's with the CAPS. Super lame. Sorry.

I follow you my dear, and the mommy drama- whatever it's called blog. I'm that foul-mouthed single childless chick that lurks in all the humor and wit but can never seem to come back with something equally witty. So I don't.

I love to read your blog, you crack me up! My stupid work blocks Flickr, so unfortunately I can't see the pictures you post, it's a real buzz kill. However, I can see your nifty title bar (I don't know what it's called, I'm not into fancy blog speak) and I so love the splashy puddle one.

PS You're adorable, and so are the kiddos.

PPS What KMKC said.

PPPS ♥

I'll enter your giveaway, even though I'd rather a postcard with Charlie on it. :)

I found you blog when I was searching for other bloggers talking about the 30 day Shred... then kept reading BECAUSE YOU ARE FUNNY.

AND because we have babies only a few days apart.

AND because my mom's name is Eleanor and I hope to have a little girl to name the same some day.

AND because you project cross processed neon colored love filled lazer beams from your hearts (which you don't find everyday!).

AND because you're GF and so are we. Mostly.

Related: this should TOTALLY COUNT FOR TWO ENTRIES.

I don't follow, but I do subscribe in a reader.

(I'm not sure what my deal is with the "follow" thing. Maybe because I don't have the "Follow Me" widget up on my blog.)

Amy October 1, 2009 at 4:31 PM

I follow you on twitter of course. And your tweets are GREAT. Some are laugh out loud funny. You don't give yourself enough credit.

I found your blog by reading Giggly's and am so glad I did! You inspired me to get the 'Shred' video and then kept me comin' round with your humor and your beautiful photos. You are a talented writer and I look forward to checking in on your world~ Oh, and I'm a follower thru blogger~

Thank you also by the way for the opportunity to win your wonderful postcards!!

Giggly October 1, 2009 at 5:07 PM

Helloooo Miss Tia. I think I found you through Twitter? I love your gluten free recipes, your posts about being a mom, and how you are not afraid to be real. :-)

I also love that you are picking a winner on my birthday. ;-)

Lauren October 1, 2009 at 5:48 PM

Pretty postcards =D. I just found your blog the other day, and like the photos and GF recipes!

I'm not a "follower" on the side, but I do read you through Google Reader.

Okay, I'm so happy you have postcards of that pic of Elie in the puddle. Seriously, I already have a place to frame it and put it up in my new house. Seriously. So I have to win.

Okay, lets see... I have been reading your blog for awhile, but I really remember, back when I was still in Austin, you blogged about the porn shop in Abilene, describing it as Church-like... so of course I had to see for myself as soon as we moved her. It totally is!

Unknown October 1, 2009 at 5:59 PM

Oh, and I follow you on Twitter.

LeaKarts October 1, 2009 at 9:49 PM

Hey Tia! How the heck DID I find you?!? I can't remember anymore, but I have loved your blog from the second I laid eyes on it. You have such a gift for telling it like it is, and for spinning it in the most hilarious way possible. I follow you on blogger! ♥

Melissa October 1, 2009 at 10:36 PM

Love the postcards.

I am @gomelissago we know each other from Twitter.

I don't have a favorite post; they are all great. I do have a favorite photo the one of the now lost Dash (My Little Pony) in the park.

Oh Mandie October 2, 2009 at 12:04 AM

alrighty Mrs Tia, you know that I follow your blog and your twitter (although I must admit, I've seriously neglected twitter) and have done so for ... sheesh, over a year now

My favorite post that you've wrote though isn't on this blog, its on the MD's, the pajama pants post will forever be my favorite (because I live in mine!)

PS: the pic of the hot air balloon right under this post could totally be a postcard picture too!

I came across your Blog while checking out other people's blogs. I fell in love with your writing and the things you do as a family and of course your gorgeous children! I love reading other mom's blogs and things they do with their children. It always gives me good ideas with my own family. :D

I love that your used your photos for these postcards...I immediately recognized Eleanore's boots because I was jealous of them the first time you posted that picture.

Random association...I don't remember how I came across your blog to begin with, but I love when your name is highlighted on my Google Reader because that means that some form of entertainment is about to ensue. I would be one of those creeps who would see you on the street and know everything about you but you wouldn't have a damn clue who I am because I never remember to comment (except now because I am a little greedy and want the postcards :o)

I think I initially found you on Twitter, then I followed to your blog. I love your funny and real posts and the pics of your cute kids. Especially fond of Charlie, because my son too was full of creased-chubby skin-gobs and I loved every one of them! Your crafty ways are interesting and also yummy recipes.

:-)

Mandi October 2, 2009 at 12:36 PM

Hi :) I started following your blog when you were doing the 30 day shred and have been a bit of a creeper since then...hehe i always enjoy your flashbacks and your sense of humor :)

soul_searching_mama October 3, 2009 at 12:00 AM

Hi! I have only been following your blog for a couple of weeks. I don't remember exactly which blog I was on that linked me to you, but once I got to your page I was HOOKED. And I mean that--I backtracked and read all of your blog posts (which I rarely do on blogs). I think it is your style of writing and sense of humor but I really enjoy reading your perspectives on being a parent.

Anyway, so I've been following your blog for a couple of weeks now and I really hope to continue following it. :) A blog post that really stands out for me was one you linked to at the Mama Dramalogues--the one about Charlie as the "vampire baby" when he bit you while you were nursing. I was laughing so hard I had tears streaming down my face! I have had the exact same experience with my son when I was breastfeeding him (he is now 26 months old). :)

I also like that you are from WA state since that is where I was born & raised until about a month ago when my husband moved us to Denver so he could go to Graduate school. I miss WA state a lot though--there is no place like the Northwest! :) Keep up the great work blogging (and the GREAT pictures!). Those postcards are adorable and I'm sure whoever wins them will really enjoy having them.

Oh & I read your blog about the Mama Dramalogues today and I also experience Mommy Paranoia. I frequently wake up in the middle of the night with a heart-wrenching and very real fear that my son is falling and I have to catch him--this results in me snapping awake and hitting my husband in my attempt to "catch" my son. My husband is none to happy about it. This is only one of the many ridiculous things I do out of paranoia. Just wanted you to know you're not alone! :) I'm sure all moms experience some degree of paranoia.

* i follow you on twitter already
* your blog is linked from my blog, and i totally would "follow" your blog if the whole "followers" didn't freak me out a little.
* association with your blog ... well, we have the whole family thing going on...

that puddle picture is totally ridiculously cute.

I've been reading your blog for a while (although I had been away from the internet for a few months... morning sickness...) BUT, I believe I had found you through Etsy and decided I'd like your blog from this profile sentence: "We project cross processed neon colored love filled lazer beams from our hearts."

And, I did love it! Plus, I gave an ornament away last year for your Monday Suckdays! :)

Your photos look awesome by the way.

I follow you on twitter.

I follow your blog also.

I read your blog because you make being a mom sound fun... and you have great recipes.

And I didn't feel like making three comments, so if this only counts as one, eff it. :D
