A Giveaway While I'm Away

Sunday, August 8, 2010

*NOTE: This giveaway has been closed. The winners are being notified through emails. Thank you all who entered!

Tomorrow is the big day. Tomorrow we're going to wake up early, we're going to open up our front door and welcome two of Christopher's bosses daughters inside our home (I baked them both brownies and strawberry shortcake- I can't let them go hungry while they're here!), we're going to load my pile of pillows and hospital bag (which I have yet to pack) into the van, and then we're going to drive 15 minutes down the freeway, without our kids, probably in a whirlwind of anxious silence, check into the hospital, and we're going to have a baby.

So while we're away, I thought maybe you'd all like something to do (?), as you're coming and going, maybe checking for updates and hoping for a teeny glimpse of little Miss Evelyn.

How about a giveaway?
**********************************

Yesterday, just after dinner, during the hottest part of the day (of course)- we took the babies outside. Brave, right? Usually when its that hot we just stay inside and listen to them complain, knowing that as soon as we step foot out the door, their faces will turn bright red, everyone will get cranky, and meltdowns will surely occur.

Well, maybe not this time?

We recently got some baby neck coolers from one of our wonderful sponsors, Pretty Lizzy Lu.

I followed the instructions that came with the coolers, I soaked them for 15 minutes before going outside, and then as soon as our sandals hit the hot cement, I wrapped the cold pieces of fabric around their necks, secured them in place with the sewn-on velcro, and let the babies run free.

Not only did the babies not complain (which I thought for sure they would), but they loved them.

Even Charlie, who can't stand having things around his neck (ya know, scarves, bead strands, whatever his sister is trying to choke him with) or on his head, left it completely alone while he went off and played.

Actually, I was jealous. While the kids were completely comfortable in the hellish afternoon Texas heat, this pregnant Mama was dripping sweat- face turning red- and ready to pass out! Why didn't I get myself any of these things?!

Twenty or thirty minutes later, I figured the neck coolers had lost their cool (that and even one more minute outside and I knew I'd collapse), so we picked up our toys (hah, we... right) and headed back inside. And when we got back in the house, would you believe that neither of the kids had red faces or attitudes?!

Ok, well maybe one of them had a little bit of an attitude...

But isn't that the cutest attitude you've ever seen?

Ok, right, but so anyways, y'all... I've got some neck coolers to give away!!

Pretty Lizzy Lu had sent along 3 baby neck coolers for us to share with our online friends and readers! And because soon, this here blog is going to be swallowed whole by all things newborn, and because the temperatures aren't getting any cooler out there, I figured now would be the best time to set up the giveaway and hand them out.

What you need to do:

-Leave a comment on this post.

-Leave your email in that comment. (Make it easy for me to track you down if you win?)

-The end!

It doesn't get much easier than that, does it?

I'll pick the three separate winners (one neck cooler each- I'll just be choosing who gets which pattern at random) when I return from my delivery. It might be Wednesday, it might be Saturday. I'm not putting a time stamp on the contest.

You can enter only once.

Open to both US and Canadian residents (par-tay, right?).

Um, am I forgetting anything??
No?

Alright then! The next time you'll see me, I'll be holding an itty bitty little baby!!

Flashback Friday- The Very First Moments Of Life

Thursday, August 5, 2010

Most of you probably know by now, that we're welcoming our brand new baby girl into our family this upcoming Monday. If you didn't know (because maybe you're new to the Flashback party this week- and if you are, then welcome!!), well now you do, hee.

In honor of our new addition, we wanted this flashback to be extra special. So we dug through the archives, and decided to share with you a video from when our oldest (Miss Eleanore) was first born.

Just minutes after taking her first breath, Christopher went to the nursery with her while the doctors finished up my surgery, and he made a video using our old Samsung digital camera, so that I wouldn't miss those first moments. He didn't realize that using the zoom would cut into the sound, because we had never made a video using our camera before, but- choppy vocals and all, this video is absolutely flawless. The tears that it brings to my eyes are the purest tears of joy. I can't even put into words how this video makes us feel.

We're happy to share it with you...

If you're new to Flashback Friday, don't be shy! Heres how we do it-

Grab an old photo (or if you're like me, a bazillion), write a little bit about it, and link up! We love love love to invade your personal Polaroid history, so don't be shy, post your photo, and expect a lot of comments starting with "awwwwww". Unless its a sad post, and then... well those might start with "awww" too. I swear, most weeks I cry at half of your flashbacks (I know, I'm pregnant, so-). Anyways- (please please, because this helps spread the word!) don't forget to either text link back to this post, or grab one of our buttons from down below. Can't wait to see what y'all have to share with us!!

*And please forgive us for a possible lack of Flashback next week. We'll be very busy with the newest Herman, but I'll make sure to set up the linky so that you all can still play along, even if its without me :)
